Collections

Detroit's religious, ethnic, urban, and social history is represented in the approximately 3,0000 cubic feet of materials housed in the Archdiocesan Archives.

Historical materials include the papers of the diocesan bishops dating back to the 18th-century pioneer priest, Rev. Gabriel Richard and manuscripts and publications pertaining to the "Radio Priest" of the 1930s, Rev. Charles E. Coughlin.

Other collections record the social welfare and community activism of Catholic organizations such as the League of Catholic Women and the National Catholic Welfare Conference, as well as the administrative records of Catholic parishes in the six counties that currently comprise the Archdiocese of Detroit.

For a complete list of collections, please contact the Archivist.
